A New Day Independent Living is a shared, structured home in New Orleans for adults working on stability — sober living, mental health recovery, life after incarceration, and veteran transition.

We are not a clinic or a hospital. We don't try to be. What we provide is something just as important: a clean room, a locked medication box, a calm house, a curfew that holds, and people who notice when you're missing.

We house four populations across our houses — including male-only houses, female-only houses, and a designated house for registered residents. House assignment matches both the population and the person.

Your situation is your own. Your story belongs to you. Our job is to keep the door open, the rules clear, and the structure steady while you do the work that's yours to do.
Why A New Day

Built for the people most programs turn away.

Six things we get right — and don't apologize for.

02

Structure that holds

Clear rules, consistent enforcement, and curfews that mean something. Predictability is treatment, in its own way.

03

Medication safety

Locked medication boxes for every resident. Observed dosing for controlled prescriptions. Your medication stays yours.

04

Coordination, not isolation

We work with your case manager, your VA worker, your supervising officer, your treatment provider — with your written consent.

06

Dignity in every interaction

Whether you're calling at 3 a.m. from a hospital or being dropped off from county lockup, you are talked to like a person. Always.

Who We Serve

Four populations.
One standard of care.

Male-only and female-only homes — no co-ed — plus a designated house for registered residents.

01 Mental Health

Adults managing mental health conditions

Stable, structured housing that supports your outside treatment — your psychiatrist, your therapist, your meds. We don't replace your providers. We give you a calm place to live while you work with them.

02 Veterans

Veterans of every branch

We coordinate with SSVF, HUD-VASH, GPD, and other VA programs. Your VA case manager is part of the picture. You served — we treat you like it.

03 Reentry

Adults on parole, probation, or supervised release

A real address. A landline that picks up when your PO calls. Compliance documented. The structure required to make supervision work in your favor.

04 Registered Residents

Adults with registration requirements

Designated separate house, located in compliance with Louisiana distance requirements. Registration verified at intake. We work with your verifying officer.
